Softmod Gone Wrong.... Options

ok, i mess up may xbox big time

i modded my xbox and had a evox dash on it. i was playing around on it and messed it up. now when i turn my xbox on it stops at the green x with MS under it. i can still play games but only when i coldboot. also all my save games were deleted which makes me wonder if i foratted my e drive? well anyways i found out 2 ways to fix it.

1. hotswap (kinda scared to)
2. modchip (cant buy one)

if i want to hotswap then i could do it on my neighbors xbox that i softmodded. i read these tuts. the first one is very skimpy and short while the other is too damn long.

i actually have modded 3 xboxes without any probems and they r all xbox live safe. but my xbox was the test, and well i messed it up. so if anybody can point me in the right direction i would greatly appriaciate it. thanks in advance.

will it boot backups?? if so get an auto installer like slayers or auto installer delux..if not how did you softmod in the first..you must have used an exploit mech assualt etc..just redo it..your lucky you can still boot games..most softmods gone bad have to be chipped to fix!!

like i said i think i formatted my e drive and my softmod was on the e drive so the xbox is looking for a a dasboard that does not exist so it just stays there at the x. and since the softmod was on the e drive then i would not be able to boot backup games. i have the slayers disk. but, lol, i have not tried to boot it with the dixk because i dont think it will work.

well, why don't you TRY to see if it boots backups. what softmod did you use? if you used krayzie's, it should be very easy to fix even if you formatted E.

you'd need to burn a dash to a disc, boot from the disc (it will still work because the kernal patcher is on the real C drive), FTP into the xbox via the dashboard that is loaded from the disc, and then FTP over the dashboard folder. i believe you need a folder called E:\Dashboard with the xbe file named 'default.xbe'.

after you do that, the kernal patcher should be able to find the dashboard there and you're good to go.

if you really did screw something up and it won't boot backups, download UXE complete, set it up, put C drive stuff in C folder, E drive stuff in E folder, create the disc, hotswap to your computer, reformat the drive, and copy over the C and E folders.

you can't do an xbox to xbox hotswap with a softmod in my experience, you need to turn the xbox on after you hotswap the drive to it, in which case it wouldn't be able to boot from that drive. it needs to be TSOP flashed or chipped. (it's easier to fix with xboxhdm and a computer anyways...)

Just pretty much all I said was pop in the softmod game (007 or whatever) and TRY. If it doesnt work then get a DuoX2, they are about $20, and they are worth it. And I dont recommend hotswapping.

can i load a softmod from a memory card and instal it on the xbox. for example 007 has the ability to load from memory card or harddrive. i wuld select memory card and load the the exploit. would this work?

if the game has the option of loading from the memory card i would say that it would work out fine.
try it.

No, that wont work. You will only get a error 21.
The gamesave hack launches a XBE, and the xbox doesnt support a XBE launch from a memory unit. SORRY

Yea, I have.
I had a 512mb Mem.Stick that had XBMC on it and it wouldn't launch from the memory unit. So I made a post and, I think it was Xombe, told me the same thing I just told you. that is why it is NECESSARY to copy the gamesave hack to the HDD, because it wont launch from the memory unit.

Sorry, I didn't see that last question...
You have 2 options at this point.
1- Buy a DuoX2 (cheap, reliable, and easy to install).
2- Hotswap (which is kinda risky, and i wouldnt recommend it).
