Is there a company that makes a DVD playback kit that doesn't look as ugly as the MS standard one? Not to offend anyone whos a die hard fan of it, but it looks like its made for kids! If i could find one that looked like a Media Center remote that would kick ass. Someone should make replacement cases for them like they do the controllers.

I honestly think that the MS one is the better looking one of them...not saying I like it though, it just looks better than the others.

I say, if you really want something that you would love, make it yourself beerchug.gif

Xecuter makes an internal one I belive.

But I think you have to have an X3 + face plate for it to work.

I actually ripped out the IR and cut a small round hole on in the front of my case... and put the lil black circle right there... semi-flush. I use my own universal remote to control it. If you need the code for YOUR universal remote... Its RCA type 5 protocol.

I've never worked with any IR stuff before, are there any tuts on that? If i could figure out how to just reprogram a remote i like to work with the dvd dongle that would be tight.

I buy the 3rd party kits for like $10, paint the dongle, and use my universal remote. Here's the one I did with Krylon Mystique:

EDIT: If you are asking how you use a universal remote, just use the codes for an RCA DVD player. And also, the 3rd party dongle I have seen are easier to take apart.
