Hi;
Have set up an Emulator, it ftp'd fine as well as 4 games (roms) but 3-4 would not ftp. Get message that they are placed in cued or something like that. They show up at the bottom with a Red X next to them. 1. Just wondering what that issue might be all about. Any thoughts??? 2. Also have save problem, as games go through save process but are not showing up afterward to continue from save point. EMU is "xboyadvanced_v17." If it says "failed" it's more than likely due to the length of the file name.
If the ROM is "teenage mutant ninja turtles arcade fighters" you have to shorten it. There's a character limit....but I don't remember the limit. This post has been edited by 00g: Jul 22 2005, 09:18 PM |

SO, what you are saying is that if I simply change the file name to something shorter it will probable ftp fine.
Hummmm! Seems almost too easy but I will certainly give it a shot. Thanks. PS: would be nice to have something easy for a change. daug |

QUOTE(jameswalter @ Jul 22 2005, 04:39 PM) 42 characters on hard drive, 255 on DVD Can use these characters: ! # $ % & ' ( ) - . @ [ ] ^ _ ` { } ~ Cannot use these characters: < > = ? : ; " * + , / \ | See? I knew it wasn't 43. Maybe I'm thinking of XBMC? I remember it being pretty short. Or at least a lot shorter than 42. Ah well. |

Hi again;
Have not had a chance to much with this issue but I did have a look at the file names & none of them are anywhere near 40 characters. Must be some other issue. |

Is the 42 character limit only filesize or does it include path.
ie: F:\Super duper extra long extended folder name here\another pretty long folder name\short name.mp3 The filename is short enough but will that path be allowed? |

Path is fine, its the file name itself. Also be sure to keep in mind that the file extension is considered part of the file name, ex: .mp3 is 4 characters.

Hmm, I wonder if someone could verify that.
Reason is, I'm FTPing some folders to the xbox, but several folders have failed....all the longer ones. As soon as I shorten the folder names, the transfers go through fine, regardless of the contents of the folders. This is WITH the xbmc fatx limiter turned on. My long filenames were clipped like they were supposed to. But for some reason these long folders are giving me trouble. Does anyone know if there's a hard limit on folder/path names or why else this problem would be happening? |
