I am going to be buying the console at launch. Im sure most of the bugs are going to be worked out by launch. I also agree with that point. Im sure there will be a sort of middleground for the mods on the x360 beerchug.gif

Well, I'm an xbox killer. i've had 6 xboxes ranging from my release day V1.0 to V1.6 (haven't had V1.2).

I have to say that V1.0 xboxes were built the best, remeber that this is when they were a ridiculas price £400 over here (~$718.479), they had all the best parts but there was the big big problem of the cheap DVD drive.

This time however M$ will have great DVD drives, they can read anything and I don't think that cheap crappy DVD drives can read the stuff those drives can.

If anything brakes in your Xbox 360 it will be your mobo with all that heat from the triple core processor.

M$ will not make the mistake $ony did with the shitted up first gen PS2s burning through DVDs and the disc tray flying out and hitting people in the face (yes that did happen).
With the rival releasing their seeminly more powerful console just around the corner M$ can't afford any slip ups and they know this, they will try hard.

I'm getting the 360 now and one other consoles either the Revolution (because of the N64 emulation - N64 was my favorite console ever plus Ninty have Shigsy who is a creative genius) or the PS3 (have you seen the graphics on fight night!).

M$ entered the market as a nobody when it comes to consoles, they ended up a srong second despite the competion having a year lead. This time they will put everything they have in to make it a success including parts.

V1.0 will be the one to get.

You should go buy a Game Informer (either this months or last months) according to an interview with some EA people: Fight Night Round 3 is coming to Xbox360 no later than Q1 next year. No only that after only a few months of development the 360 version is rivaling the tech demo graphics shown at the Sony's E3 PS3 presentation. tongue.gif

I'm planning on getting a 360 the second it's available. I'm actually excited to play the games... Modding seems like a second priority to me right now (what could you possibly do to make it better!?!?). The only thing that I want is the ability to play "backups"...

Hmm, i'll buy at launch.

For no reason in particular.

Probably because my cousin will be in Singapore then, and can pick me up one, Weeks before we get it here in Australia...

Oh, and he's also getting me a PSP...Score.
We get PSP tomorrow, yet, i'd rather pay less.

I know loads of people who bought their's on launch and they still work, my DVD drive broke plenty of times in my V1.0 but never anything else since I got the philips drive in it.

My other version xboxes have broken loads with a range of faults from the mobo to the psu to the controller ports. It wasn't me spilling drinks on it or being reckless with the solder iron I swear, it was bad worksmanship.

Nothing is really made to a very high standard anymore, pushing out 100,000 mobos a minute there is bound to be errors with the lasers and arms making things.

I had a 20 year old Sony TV in my living room until a few weeks ago when it finaly blew.
How many modern TVs will last 20 years nowdays without having a singal fault?

rolleyes.gif we wont know for another 20 years... laugh.gif

I think the GC is easily the most well constructed console available today, There's friggin 14 screws holding the disc drive in place.

I remember seeing a video a LONG while back (on some site like ebaums world or something) where they were "testing" the durability of the PS2 Xbox and GC... They started by dropping them on concrete from 3"... the PS2 died on the first drop, wouldn't even power up, and a bunch of it's plastic parts shattered too. The Xbox and GC they kept rising till about 10ft when the Xbox HDD broke but aside from that it was fine. The GC they threw out a 2 story window and it still didn't break. Then they tied a rope around the handle and dragged it behind a car for 2 miles... most of the plastic, the drive lid etc was scratched up and broken.... but they put a disc in and it booted right up and played laugh.gif

Ah, ninty never let me down, my N64 never broke, froze when I used some cheats with a cheat cart on PD but no harwware faults despite being banned about.

I miss nintendo games and Shigy's work, I want to play the new zelda but I'm saving for the 360 so can't buy a GC...shame really.

If nintendo would join M$ then sony would crumble. I'm not a fan boy, i just don't like the Playstation series, i think all the games they had could be better on better hardware, that's all.

I agree, the gamecube is built like a freakin' tank or something. My little brother likes taking my gamecube to his friends house, and it has fallen out of the bag on the bike ride there many times, smacking the cement, bouncing and rolling. And yet, it still works perfectly biggrin.gif

You can't really say that about a PS2 or XBOX rolleyes.gif
