Just like the topic/description says... When i access my share to view a movie or listen to music... It works good. But... On a couple folders, it will ask me for a login/password. However, when i share the folder exclusively it will work.

I dunno actually. I tried to stream some files yesterday... it worked perfectly. Now today, I got a prompt asking for user and password, but now, I just completely get an error.

I think I'll redo my home network, I'll see if that helps.

Well I had this to for weeks already since I got XBMC and after doing it like four times and no more mistakes made I finally got it running. It works 100% if you did it completely right the secure way for WinXP Pro:

Good luck!

Spykon: Yes, i followed that tut. And as i said... only a couple folders will ask for the login/pass, unless i specifically share that folder.

I have the same exact problem too, it worked just fine before yesterday when i was watching some videos from my linux smb server, but then i tried to play some videos today and it kept asking me for a username/password even if i entered in the right ones? I've tried deleting the xbmc saves and resetting my server but it keeps doing the same thing huh.gif

I've noticed Firewalls cause a lot of issues when trying to SMB share.

If you have one, disable it, see if it works, and if it does see if you can find a networking area in your firewalls settings.

Wasn't my intention to "hijack" your thread, my intention was to share with you and anyone else that looks at this thread that I am having a similar problem as you, so I figured i would post in this thread instead of making another one just like it so that maybe we can get our heads together and fix this problem.

And since my last post I have fixed my problem, I don't know why xbmc acted this way to begin with, but what i did was delete my xbmc save from the ms dash, then i went back into xbmc and redid my network settings, and did a cold reboot...voila working shares with no annoying user/pass popup, i don't know if this will work for you as it did for me, but what is there to lose since you already don't have working shares wink.gif hope it works for you guys though good luck

I understand that, and i'm not upset or anything... I don't think ppl would get mad if you were to make a new post since it's a different problem.
