Like what has been said, you NEED inputs on the screen. Thats why the hip pad screen works.

Also, and for the price that spare PSP parts are going for right now, it's not worth it.

And search gameboy/game gear on these boards and you'll see why this doesnt work.

Actually to the one who posted that video input on a game gear doesnt work:

Sega's portable console was all in all a nice attempt, without the marketing background and third party publishers it deserved. Nice hardware overall with colors, optional TV tuner and composite inputs to allow you to plug any other audio-video device in it and use the screen. Some very cool hits are available on the console, relying on Sega's know-how on the matter. Unfortunately, except from those great first party titles, the console lacked all along the way the support of the other publishers.
