I got this part and i am going to extend my DVD dongles IR eye to the outside. What can i really do? The eye on this part isnt exactly round more oval. is it possible to get a clear black dome piece or something similar to that piece that was covering the original eye? I kinda broke mine.

i would just make a tiney hole in the case and have the eye just visible, dont bother with the covering.

QUOTE
Radio Shack 276-640
Warning: There have been reports that the signal quality these receivers produce is very unstable. YMMV. If possible use another receiver IC.

just a small quote for ya (from lirc.org).. and the xbox remote uses the RCA protocol and its signal is modulated at 56kHz, the one you have is 36.6kHz, some times it works fine, othertimes its realy bad.. so its best to use a 56kHz reciever for the xbox

Well these pics are severly outdated, but it will at least give you an idea of what to do

I just went to walgreens and got some left over overexposed film from them (for free) and cut and shaped them to what I wanted. I used sand paper to shape the edges. Looks better than those pics now. I finally got them perfect. Need to update those LOL. beerchug.gif

I guess I could have just posted a pic...

As you can see the bottom of the IR oval is kinda pushed in. Its fixed now. Looks stock. beerchug.gif

well ive been looking around and i found one site that said the original is U2 TSOP-1556 so i am looking for that part now, i would use the original but i wanted to see if there is a smaller size one out there. using the original will be my last resort.

i was hoping the part U2 TSOP-1556 would be different size though but it could be the same shape/size
