Fast way of debug logging is to simply hold X+Y down while booting XBMC. You will see FPS: 50.00 Freemem 4542521 etc if done correct.

Other way to enable debug logging (so it will change in debug logging mode untill you change it is to open/make your advancedsettings.xml and add it there.

The log file can be found in the XBMC folder and is called xbmc.log. There are one other log file called xbmc_old.log there too. That file is from your last boot and it is this one you should look in if XBMC froze one you on the last boot etc.
