Hey I'm looking for a program that will download things straight to my XBox. I only have about 2 gigs on my laptop and large file transfers I'd prefer to just automatically download to my xbox rather than use my comp for them. Any help with this would be much appreciated thanks.

With the exception of running Linux, you'll only be able to get things like Weather and Movie Trailers etc. in Xbox Media Center (which is only grabbing data, not saving it anywhere), or pehaps gamesave and skin downloads with UnleashX or Avalaunch, etc.

You're PC will have to act as a middle-man in the vast majority of cases.

Besides, two gigs should be plenty, as even the largest Xbox apps only take up say, 100 MB? So don't let it bother you.

Well I'm using Windows 2000, and I have set up a shared WorkGroup network through XBMC....how would I open up that connection on my PC so I can just download files into my XBox rather than on my PC?

A shared workgroup (Samba) is a far different thing than ICS (Internet Connection Sharing), or the like.

Have a look at the networking guide: http://www.chefelf.com/xbox/networking.php

Figure out which setup you have, and what you can and can't do given said setup. Then figure out precisely what you want to do/download, and whether that's even a possibility, most of which I spoke of already.
