I hear a low frequency, but high pitch sound coming from my PSU when the power cord is connected, all this while my Xbox is turned off.

Just a lil' FYI: Frequency = Pitch. So you can't have a low frequency and a high pitch at the same time unles there are two tones or sounds.

It sounds like you have a high frequency, low volume sound? (The pitch is high, sharp, or shrill while not being real loud.)

.....

The powercord I received from M$ didn't look any different from the one it was replacing, but I went ahead and replaced it. It felt different as in a different kind of plastic covering.

Old v.3 PSU blew up after a shortage. Figured I'd save a little money and get a 3rd party replacement from eStarland. After using their unit for a few days, we had another unfortunate short! Sent that back to them and they got me a new one, at no charge. Guess what? sad.gif Long story short, I found out that those shitty 3rd party PSUs SUCKED! Stuck with the real deal FoxLinks by buying a used one off eBay. Can't wait to see how the 360 PSU will hold up!

I've got a 1.6 Xbox, which is too new to require a replacement power cord. No, it hasn't blown up yet either :-P

I check every foxlink PSU that goes thru my hands for bad solder joints at the power input point. I have fixed about 20-30. Not a big deal unless it's been bad for a while and burns all the traces leading to the points.

Have had my 1.0 since launch, no PSU problems....just the damned Thompson that broke down that had to be switched for a Sammy. Other PSU's have blown on modded boxes, but that was because of me. Was never really careful when I first starting to mod.

Mine didn't exactly blow up, but now it won't stay on for a few minutes before the replacement cord pops it off, so I guess mine has begun its demise..

1.0 bought launch night.

Never had any problems with it, but the solder joints were cracked, so I repaired them.
