please don't bash me for my ignorance, but In the new tutorial (memory card less, modless Tsop flash), wouldn't it be more easy to hot swap the hd and use the FATXHDD Driver to put the files on e: ??? Please someone clear this up for me.

No, because the OEM hard drive is locked, so it can't be read in a PC. With the Xbox unmodded, you can't run any utils to unlock the HD or even to read the key.

Wait, I can read my Xbox unlocked hard drive (new maxtor 120gb) in my Pc with some drives? I must be pretty ignorant, or I just missed it somehow. How do I do this?

You hot swap it and use this tool : http://dwl.xbox-scene.net/~xbox/xbox-scene.../HDD_Driver.zip Winxp/2k only.

And i meant locked original.

I was under the impression you could not read the locked hard drive even with the proper third-party plug-in to read the file system. If this is the case, then you would be able to implement the exploit this way, but you would not be eligible for Part B of the Xbox-Linux Project, as it would involve a small level of hardware manipulation that would void your warranty on the Xbox.
