Started by hollowing out the inside of the button, put in 5mm 630 mcd led and filled it will hot glue, then "painted" around the outside of the button with a sharpie to limmit bleeding into the 1 2 3 4 areas.
And the button still functions offcourse.

nice work beerchug.gif

I'm unbelievably happy that we're now getting actual modding topics in this forum biggrin.gif

Since you have the controller I think you should be able to confirm or deny that the ABXY buttons are analog or not. If you remove the rubber pad from the PCB to get a look at the contacts it should make it pretty clear (if it looks like the PCB under the D-Pad... no analog on the ABXY)

Unfortunately you're not the first one to post a mod ohmy.gif
This guy beat you by a half hour http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=452910 ph34r.gif

Though you are the first LED mod wink.gif

Thanks again for making my day pop.gif

modding the actual xbox360 controller with LEDs would make it hard to use when tyring to do multi player... because it lights up to designate what quadrant you are on the console and what player you are.

First thanks for all your praises.

Actually no it wont, they are completly seperate from each other. the X never lights up when stock, only the ring around it does.

Sorry i dont know how to quote.

I uses one 5mm green led, the plastic is tansparent green so i suppose a white would work to.

First i had to hollow out the button by drilling into it with a bit slightly smallerin diam. than the space inside leaving the button an empty shell. The entire button is made of the clear green plastic, the silver is added.
llamma is now doing this mod so they may have more or better info

Little button at the bottom right of every post box.

So from what your telling me that "it is completely seperate" is that the light from the center x won't leak into the ring outside of the X? Because if it does it will be kinda hard to tell what player you are and if you have a message or whatnot. huh.gif

nvm i think i got it...

The peice seem to be seperate and not transparent. This would keep atleast some of the light from leaking to the outside ring where you see your player "status" on your controller. If you have a dim enough LED you wont get any interference with the stock green leds that tell you your "status". What i would do is change out the 4 leds fo the "status" and add one for the X itself. Yet, what sucks is that the LEDs that light the "status" ring around the X are surface mount leds(firgured) and those are hard to replace.... LSdiodes here i come.

Peices to the "status" ring and X button in the controller and layed out.

Well I used a sarpie marker all around the outside of the button to stop the leaking, so i dunno if it would leak without doing that, maybe it would.
