I found out error code 5 means the hardrive is not locked but i don't know how to lock it. i can't get ftp or it on at all.

oh yeah my ip is 192.178,2,101 and my network is verizon. and i tryed to cahnge my eeprom a week ago and used configmagic and haven't started it up till the day after that and it didn't work. There is also NO way to get to the dashboard and i don't know how to lock the hd without using configmagic on the xbox.

i am going to assume that you had your box softmodded. the best way
to fix your problem is to install a chip. then flash a hacked bios to it, as the
hacked bioses don't need to lock the hdd in order to boot from it.

I'm not flaming you, but don't ask that. It degrades quickly to "this chip versus that chip" and "ch1p X r0x, ch1p Y sux" stuff.

Alright im saying you have a softmod but not 100% Clear on it.


Well somehow you unlocked your hard drive which you need locked when using a softmod.

You options are

1.Get some Modchip
2.Get a xbox with a mod chip in it and lock the hard drive to your xboxs eeprom.bin


But what im wondering is do you have this xboxs eeprom.bin cause if your dont your stuck with option 1.


If your looking for a cheap chip there are many ways to go.

I think you're all missing XboxHDM.

@crunkjuice: Download XHDM, make its boot CD with your box's new EEPROM(the one Zodiak sent you), hook the HDD up inside your computer, and boot from the XHDM disk.

Then, pick option 3 from the main menu. Once it says stuff about lockhd and unlockhd, type lockhd -a. This should lock your HDD with the code from your new EEPROM; then just hook it back up inside your box and it should work.

Eh... no. Either you hook it up inside your computer and do it that way, or chip your box and install a BIOS that lets you use unlocked HDDs.

Eh... no again. You can't unlock your HDD with your friend's EEPROM code, and if it's already unlocked, you can't lock it with his code and expect it to work in your Xbox.

There are some decent chips that aren't that expensive, but I'm not going to start a "chip war" here by recommending one.
