i have a dell pc and the motherboard doesnt have an agp slot but it has the space for one (the points where you put the pins of the agp slot in)
i wanted to know if its possible to purchase an agp slot and put it in yourself
im also good with a soldering iron so i can solder all those points in
(yes i know that will take forever but i dont want to buy a new motherboard)

10 to 1 says it wont work, most of the PC's use the same PCB for a motherboard, then just add components onto it, makes it cheaper (though harder to expand and upgrade later on) to make. So I'd bet money that it wont be able to read from the slot.

I agree with thewickedjester, it's likely not to work. On top of posible missing or replaced components, it is unlikely that the bios has the code to understand the AGP port. This is especialy true if the system has onboard video, I recall some of these motherboards would hack the onboard video into the AGP. Jamming a AGP port on and slapping in a video card could have some intresting yet unplesant side affects.

You could technically upgrade the bios from the same motherboard that just has an AGP slot, but by the time you do all this its easier to just buy an $80 motherboard isnt it?
