Is it safe for the chip to change the bios often? Or will this eventually damage the chip?

most rewritable chips have a life of many many thousands of re-writes.

its unlikley you would be able to break the chip even if you spent all day every day flashing it with new bios.

360 version: v3.0 (falcon)
but between each flash there should be 5-10 min for the chip to "rest".flashing requires much power so don't do it one to another all the day
