The yellow wire isn't being split. There's 2 wires.

If you wanted to have buttons for power and eject from the same controller, you could probably use the black ground wire the same way you would the yellow wire, then connect the controller's ground to the shielding instead. I know something similar was done by 2der here a while ago, but I can't search for the thread at the moment.

how will he get ground for the switches if he cuts he ground wire. won't this still require a ground connection inside the controller?

i dont see a purpose of the second switch for eject either. if you are sitting and dont want to get up, why would you need to eject the tray. is it for bank select on a smartxx or xenium modchip? cant see any other reason.

well, how about a power switch in controller/port 1 and eject switch in controller/port 2 or vice versa. at least that would be a lot easier and better looking than wiring an external wire and figuring out how it will connect inside.

@ads - thanks for the picture you posted.

There's basically 2 grounds in the cord. The shielding, which is several wires, plus the standard black usb wire. My theory is to combine them all to the shielding, then separate the black usb wire just as you do to the yellow wire.

easier would be installing a D9 female connector into your xbox as a controller port, and buying 3 meters of computer serial port cabling (9 wires) and then just making a custon dongle which would be the D9 female connector.

This would allow you to have 4, even 5 spare wires within your controller.

Just bought up this idea as im doing it for my xbox.

The mod is actually fairly clean, all that would look different is the cable (creme colour) and you would use serial ports instead of xbox controller dongles.

only thing is you cant use any other controllers other than your own, maybe have the regular ports and the other serial ports it would be better. also dont make it too long i made one of my controller wires too long and like ervery 5 mins it will say "please reconnect controller"

yeh have all 4 controller ports as normal and just wire a serial port to a controller port and mount it on your case somewhere.

or you could use a relay and have it switch between ports when controllers are in and out.

and you could also wire an original xbox controller dongle to the serial cable, just match up the right wires and tidy it up with heatshrink. that way it can be used on different xboxs with just normal capabilities, but on your xbox it would be badass, you could turn leds on and off, eject dvd drive, power on and off, change your TSOP settings from your controller etc. so many uses.
