Hey. I want to connect my Xbox 360 to my VGA monitor because I don't have an HDTV. The only problem is I don't know if I can get a proper connection between the 360 and the speakers. The speakers are Sound Blaster T5400 and the soundcard they are connected to is an Audigy 2 ZS. I'd like to connect the speakers directly to the console, but if I have to leave the computer running so I can somhow use the soundcard as a "middle-man" I'm willing to do that. BTW, I'm planning to use the cables that come standard with the platinum edition. If anything else is required, I guess I'm willing to shell out some extra cash. Thanks in advance.

WOW I couldn't have asked for a LESS informative product page on those speakers... THANKS CREATIVE!

anyway you should be able to answer your own question:

Do your speakers have an optical input?

I can tell you just by looking at the picture of your sound card that it DOES NOT support optical.

Not very many PC speakers support optical audio...

An optical input/output will look like this:

The Audigy 2 ZS does not have a Toslink input, but you can add one using this adapter: http://www.rush2112.net/Toslink_Adaptor.htm

The Audigy 2 ZS should be able to decode DD 2.1, but I cannot say if it'll decode DD 5.1 (I'm waiting on finding that out before I buy one myself).

heres the creative page for the audigy 2 zs

from that page:

QUOTE
# SPDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface) input at up to 24-bit/96kHz quality

so just hook the digital coaxial out of the 360, and run that into the sound card (if you dont have anything plugged in there already, that is)
