. . . Rules for The Signature of the Week CompetitionI. Signature of the Week. The Signature of the Week competition (or SotW), is a competition held at the Graphics section of XboxScene.com. SotW is held weekly, where members submit work dedicated to a specified theme. This theme is chosen by the members themselves, usually in the SotW Discussion topic. Once the topic is chosen, The moderator, Awal makes a thread dedicated for the sole purpose of the week's SotW competition. Within this thread, major rules are made clear, along with the theme. Here is where the user will post the artwork that he or she has created. After the deadline for the graphic entry submission has past, a post will be amassed by a user granted with SotW Duty (VI). All of the signatures that have been created are moved to this post where the designers and members will vote. Their votes will be based on Signature quality or Signature theme, but it is ultimately their choice. Once all votes are cast, and the voting deadline passes, the winner will be chosen. His or her winning Signature will be then moved to the pinned SotW Hall of Fame thread on these forums. The designer will be forever marked in SotW history. II. Signature Rules. XboxScene.com places a strict policy on what can, and can not appear in your signature. There is a list of things that you can not display, some based upon the strength of Common Sense. Please read XboxScene's Rules and Acceptable Posting Policy for further information about Signatures, and other forums related topics. - No Animated .GIFs
- No offending/illegal images or text allowed
- No referral URLs of any kind
- No requests for donations ever!
- No Racism/Racist Remarks
- No Slanderous/Antagonistic remarks
- No swearing!
- No links, direct or indirect to Xbox XDK or Sony SDK produced files.
- No links, direct or indirect to Piracy/Warez sites or files.
- No links, direct or indirect to Nude Pictures, or other pornographic materials
- No Links, direct or indirect to Game Roms
III. Signature Size. MAX SIGNATURE SIZE- 450(px) X 140 (px).
You're signature size is probably the easiest way to get yourself disqualified. People make the mistake making a signature that is too big for the specified signature size indicated by XboxScene.com. The Signature Size limit was recently updated and increased by 15 pixels in length. This is a noticeable difference and signatures. Please remember this size. IV. The SotW Thread. The Signature of the Week thread is created with the sole purpose of collecting signature entries for the theme, and then to voting. Please keep responses and posts to a minimum. Please transfer all conversations to the SotW Discussion Thread. It may not hurt, but it makes it hard for the SotW Dutee to find the signature entries, and then later on, to find the votes inside the thread. There is nothing like losing a competition due to a vote miscount. V. Submitting a signature. To submit a signature is simple. Enter the SotW thread and post your signature. If you don't have a base knowledge of how to do it, find an image hosting site, like PhotoBucket.com, get an account, and upload your signature. Link from your photobucket signature to a post in the thread that uses [IMG] tags. It does help the SotW Dutee if you include a code box with your screenname with bold tags, and then the [IMG] link tags. There are Abosolutely NO Do-overs. Have and explanation if you edit your post. VI. SotW Duty. This is a big topic that requires a lot of patience and responsibility. Do not enlist to the SotW Duty Recruitment list if you have no intentions of performing. For those who are inquiring. SotW Duty is a responsiblity where the SotW's Enlisted user/designer goes in to the thread, collects the signatures, and then amasses them, or brings them all together in one post. It is the Duty of this user to verify EVERY size of ALL entries AFTER the entry deadline. So, if someone's signature is over the size limit, then there will be zero notification until it it time to vote. Even if the entry is over by one pixel, it is disqualified. For the SotW Dutee, please inform us of a perpetrator in the same post as the SotW Voting entries are. Do not bother posting the picture, just bold red lettering.
example: metaldevil disqualified: 400px x 141px.
If there are no entries that are invalid, then post a simple bold blue entry.
example: All Entries Valid
It is Highly recommend that you start policing the competition during the week, and not on deadline. This saves time, and you won't make mistakes. If you end up in a situation where you will not be able to police the SotW, then notify the dutee next on the list by PM. Using this method is a last resort if a post doesn't suffice. But, applying for a SotW dutee postion, you are committing yourself to helping out the GFX forum by moderating the entries. VII. Voting. After the SotW Posts the List of all the valid Signature entries, you will vote for whom you feel made the best signature out of them all. Base your votes on Signature quality, originality, and what YOU think about it overall. Don not give pity votes, and do not vote on a signatue just because everyone else did. The SotW is also a learning competition. Please comment on what you like best about a certain signature, preferably the one you voted for so we can learn on we need to improve upon, and what the crowd looks for. When voting, Type the name of the designer of the signature in bold font. This helps the dutee verify who you voted for. Also, for the designers who entered in the competition, do not vote for yourselves. PM me or post if there are any ammendments you wish to make.
