Hi, i looked through all the tutorials/pinned topics and couldnt find anything about how to replace the cpu fan on the xbox. Last night mine suddenly decided that it wanted to be very noisy. I took it out, cleaned it and greased it up but it is still noisy as hell.

Im wondering if i can replace the xbox's CPU fan with another normal CPU fan? Is there a certain size or voltage that the fan needs to be, and more importantly, will the screw holes match with the cpu heatsink? Also, is it a simple matter of plugging the new fan in? I wont need to solder or do any other mods to put the normal CPU fan in it will i?

If i can install a normal CPU fan in it, can anybody recommend some that will fit (link to website where i can buy it?). Thanks for the help.

You can replace it with a normal pc fan but the higher the voltage , The louder it will be and the xbox fan is 70 mm. , You will also have to round the corners on the replacement. Here is a tutorial. There are easier ways but I do not feel like searching.

That tutorial is for replacing the power supply (PSU) fan. I need to replace the small CPU fan that is ontop of the CPU heatsink.

I really wish i could use the search button on this forum atm!

Its not the CPU, its the GPU fan. And this is the only one i could find GPU Fan Its 15$ so if you can find another i suggest it, or u could go with the heatsink in the later boxs GPU Heatsink. That is 20$. If you have an 80mm case fan in i wouldnt bother replacing it just take it out.

Awesome thanks kdezzy78 just what i was looking for and even more! I feel stupid thinking it was the CPU now lol! Didnt realise you could replace it with a heatsink either, im going to have to look into that so i can avoid the problem of it ever occuring again.
