OK I'm back to answer a few questions and whatnot. First off here's some more suggested fans that move more air, but are considerably louder. Running these at 7v will greatly reduce the noise and still cool effecitently. The most effecient setup IS having two fans in the back, sucking air OUT, and one in front of the CPU sucking in cold air. Both fans listed below are barly louder than the stock fans if run at 7v.

I will soon post a small tut regarding a fan speed limiter.

70mm Rear Fans

60mm CPU Fan

Ok! biggrin.gif thanks for the link ! I read the 12V stuff new issue is.

1. XCM fan kit has 4 wires coming out of the unit, 1 red 1 yellow 2 blacks. Now I think the 2 blacks are grounds and the red and yellow are powers. So I was think of just making clips for the wires, and pluging then in to power for the old fan plug ? IS THIS RIGHT OR AM I WRONG ABOUT THE WIRES? uhh.gif

Do's any one know or have a brake down on what is the power, and that are the grounds in the old fan plug on the MB ? uhh.gif

2. The XCM chameleon 2. Wires off this unite 1.red 1.black is this unite 5V or 12v ? uhh.gif

OK here's a few more collaborated tips that help cooling, ect.

1. Place a strip of clear packing tape over the top of the CPU heatsink fins, but not down the sides. This keeps air that the front fan blows in from being blown out the top of the heatsink and staying in the case.

2. It's highly suggested that you DO NOT run anything aside from a few LEDS from the DVD 12v source. Instead use the 12v, or 5v from any of the other spots shown in this link. Other Sources of Power

3. Below is a schematic for a fan controller. This allows you to manually set the speed of your fans based on Xbox activity, air temp, ect..

IPB Image
LM317T Voltage regulator
R1: 1K Ohm Resistor
R2: 10K Ohm Rheostat
C1: 100nF Ceramic Capacitor
C2: 1uF Polarized Aluminum or Tantalum Capacitor
IC Heatsink
PCB board

1. Construct the circuit as above. Remember, take note of the LM317T, the middle pin from the picture above is the first pin of the IC, so dont mix up them.

2. Place a heat sink for the LM317T, because it will generate a lot of heat. More heat will be produce if your fan is running at lower speed, because less voltage will be needed by the fan, therefore the extra voltage will be wasted in heat form. Remember use some thermal paste to max the conduction between them.

3. Input connects to power supply, 12v DC voltage. Output connects to fan. (red or yellow wires are positive, black wire is negative)

On that, XCM fan kit, the black wires are grounds and the yellow and red are each a lead to the fans. So you're right about the wires. happy.gif My first picture on the 1st page of this topic shows/tells which wire on the origional plug was power and which was ground. The black and blue wires are ground, and the red and brown wires are power.

biggrin.gif That's some cool work you got there ! Ok so i got the fan wires right thanks for clearing that up for me.

Do you know if the case is 5v or 12v. I would just put power to it but, do not want to fry it trying to see if its 5v or 12v. I have sent the people that mad it a e-mail about the power and wiring but know reply.

laugh.gif Dude I’m a retarded laugh.gif Don't know how I missed that at the beginning of this thread laugh.gif

Is there a way to make it work with out this problem. got this from your frist post "You will also lose the auto-adjusting functionality of the fans" not sure if you are talking about the XCM fan kit or not.

The XCM fan kit and the Talismoons both still have the auto-adjusting function. The only time you lose that function is if you power the fans from anywhere else on the motherboard. Since the XCM kit draws it's power from the stock fan plug, they will still adjust depending on the 360's temp and activity. Just make sure you wire them so that only one fan draws power from the red wire, and the other from the brown wire.

biggrin.gif COOL

TO:Gokussj5okazu

Just like to say thanks for all your HELP!!!! I know asked about a lot of stupid stuff on this topic, and thanks for not getting rude or pissy about it like other people I have asked.

P.S. The XCM high speed cooler fan kit draws its power from DVD drive power cable on the motherboard. the 4 wire red, yellow, blacks, are wired in to it. Not like the talismoon fan http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/cra...lismoonfans.jpg plug looks like this best pic i could find http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/cra...y/xcmfankit.jpg would this make any differnts on how you said hook it up or not.

No problem, at all. No questions are stupid, just some are ill asked. tongue.gif

Sorry for the confusion about the XCM, I confused myself. lol Since it was designed to hook up to the DVD drive power cable, I'd go ahead and use it that way. The XCM cooler measures the temp of the CPU and GPU and adjusts fan speed acordingly, so you don't lose that function. I'd say it's safe to run off the DVD drive, but if you don't feel comfortable with that you could fire it another way. I would need a pinout of the XCM cooler's plug to tell you how to do that though since I don't know which wire needs to go where, so I'd say just hook it up like it's intended, everything should go just fine.

Going by my pic's. So if look at it clip end wires go lik this. First row---is all blacks but last hole is empty.
Second row---2 yellow 1 black 2 red 1 black 1 black 1 empty. Hop this is what you need.

Also comeing out of the cable is 1 yellow 1 red 2 blacks that go to the fan.

Sorry, I'm a bit bad at understanding descriptions. Could ya tell me which pin numbers the yellow, red, and black wires go to?

ok if plug the cable in the MB 10,12 red yellow and # 4 black .

P.S. I have been messeing with it if I put the yellow wire "12v" to my PC power supply and the red to red on my PC "5v" and black to black on PC "ground" and plug the LCD in I can run the fan with it and control them.

Ok then, that's exactly what I've been trying to figure out. lol Run the blacks to any ground, the yellow to a 12v on the motherboard, and the red wire to a 5v on the motherboard. Then it should work just like it was intended. beerchug.gif

The fan plug on the xbox 360 MB is only 5V. I check it with my FLUKE both red and brown what’s up with that. I could gust hook in to that for ground and 5V then get the 12v from PSU Know ?

That fan plug changes voltages depending on whether or not you have the 360 at the dashboard or not, and depending on what temperature the CPU and GPU are. It changes between 5v and 12v. You can use the black and blue wires there for the ground though. YOu can get 12v at the PSU plug on the underside of the mobo, and you can get 5v on one of the USB ports or the various transistors that have been accepted as 5v supplies.
