how possible, would it be to run a strip down version of windows media center on xbox for file transfers between a modded xbox and a xbox 360? just a random idea running through my head.

I dont think you can transfer any files to the xbox 360, not even from windows media center on a pc.

Well, what exactly do you want to strip down? Windows 98 barely runs on an Xbox. Remember that the Xbox only has 64mb of ram and a 733 proc.

Is there some kind of signing process in the network chatter on xp media center? I know that the orig xbox is xp media center capable(media extender). Is it possible to create some homebrew to fool the 360 into thinking the avg pc is an xp media center pc, and stream to the 360, and/or orig xb to 360? Just a thought...
