Well, I'm still in the middle of working on things, so I don't really feel like sitting down and writing a full page of stuff yet.

But, I managed to snag a 360 brom BestBuy this morning, and I've been working on it on and off all day.

Here's a teaser of what's to come:

The faceplate and everything is off. I just took a pic to show the brightness of the LED's

Here's another fun (disassembled) pic, the wireless controller this time:

Wonder how it would look with a mix of led's, working way from green to yellow to orange to red in a clockwise pattern tongue.gif

Nice work, hope to see more in the future.

Looks pretty sweet. How hard was it to solder them on there?

it's not easy. Those little 0603 SMT led's are a bitch to solder (the hardest part is not having em fly off)

So far I've replaced the LED in the PSU also.

IPB Image

It's purple because it's in standby, then the 360 is on it's blue.

Also I'd like to give a plug to tdltdcomhk on Ebay, he;s a great supplier of SMT Led's. Cheapest place around.

i solder the 0603 led's for a living. They are easy to me since i have been modding nextel cell phones for 4 years. The best place to buy led's from is www.jade-swords.com (a nextel website but he sells them, and you always get 2nd day air free, or www.hypermods.com ( famous cellphone website ) they sell them there too.

OK I just finished adding some LED's to the small grill in front of the ahrd drive, the holes in the shield are prefect for mounting 5mm led's to. Just solder the cathode to the shield to ground it, and it also holds the led in place. I'm going to cut out some of that metal shield to make up for blocking some of the holes with led's (any obstruction to cooling air in a box that already overheats is a bad idea).

The led's are blue, this camera just makes em look purple.

IPB Image

I'm gonna finish up the lighting tomorrow, then cut the window (I have an original idea here for that), and then go shoppnig for paint and related supplies.

Also, I drew this up really quick in paint, but here is a good location to wire up led's. Now 12V and ground are all over the board, but this is a very good source of +5v, striaght out of the switching transistor.

IPB Image

Sorry if you can't read that, 12v is on top, then 5v, then ground

OK I did some more work today, I'm almost done with the first (and most original by far) window. Sorry if somebody actually has done it before, I haven't seen it done yet, so I'm taking the credit.

Just a FYI, that metal chassis/shielding is very hard to cut, its at least twice as thick as the original xbox shielding. It ate like 4 of my dremel cut-off wheels just to cut the window on the underside.

Wait, window on thr underside? Yep.

You ready for this?
