I tried to do a hotswap and it just didn't work for me :-(.... I'll probably try again sometime soon...

but i was wondering... has anyone ever thought of putting xbox hd restore/boot software onto a gamesave? This would probably be the greatest piece of software for the softmodded xbox....

It would be awesome to find like a "Save Game Boot Disc" that reinstalled the original MS Dashboard or something

Not a runner, the basic dash files are around 100MEG or more, you'd never fit them to a memory card, and if you were going to hotswap them into a gamesave... why not just transfer direct to your C:\ drive.

The closest you'll get is a softmod installer like one of Krayzie's that will install a mod, keep a backup of the original dash on the HDD, and allow you to restore the msdash if needed.

On the hotswap... use a stop watch.... With the DVD IDE unplugged ... Exactly 8 seconds after you press the power button unplug the HDD cable .... works pretty good for me.
