i am trying to load my back up copy of GUN onto my harddrive but when i do it says "Error a filename is too long" has anyone overcome this or does anyone know what i should do? it does it with the original copy aswell.is it simply a case of shortening a file name if so does anyone know which one.

i copied my GUN over to my hard drive by using DVD2XBOX. just put the original in the DVD drive and use DVD2XBOX to copy it to the hard drive. it automatically fixes the filenames and all that crap for you.

usually 'F:\Games' but it doesn't make any difference. your dashboard will probably automatically check there though, so it makes life easier.

(i assume you have an upgraded HD? without one, it's not a good idea to backup games to the HD)

because usually theres not enough room

luckily gun is a small game and will fit on F assuming its empty

if your Xfer the game with qwix it will usually allow you to rename any files that are too long during transfer.

WTF.
If you dont have a folder called 'Games' in your F drive then make one (F:\Games).
It's that simple.

No it's not that simple as he doesn't have an F: drive....... rolleyes.gif

But he DOES have an E drive with a folder in it called games....
If it were me I'd consider putting my games there.

Oh, GOTCHA wink.gif

If it is a Seagate HD then format the F drive then make that folder, if it is a western digital hd the I guess you're only choice is the E:\Games.

But that's a small F drive even when formatted. Not good for many games.
