Ok, so I put a modchip in my friends xbox and installed a bigger hard drive. Because of problems I took out the mod chip from his xbox and solder points got removed from it so it's useless. I want to softmod it now. But when I put in the retail hard drive into his xbox after I lock it with my own xbox using evox I get error 6. So what I have heard is the reason it's not working is because locking it from my xbox is useless because it makes it so the hard drive will only work with my xbox which is not what I want. I have the back up files from his but I don't know how to lock it using his hdd key. I tried this http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/lock-hdd.php , but I couldn't get it to work. Any help would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Try using XboxHDM and your friend's EEPROM to lock the hard drive.

The XboxHDM guide in my signature explains how to do this.
