Well ... in fact the article from team xecuter is mainly about one of the 'hot' discussions currently in the scene: the Team I.C.E. 'modchip' for the Xbox 360. Xecuter(info) received an email (which we received too) from Divineo giving even more reasons to think this modchip is fake:

You might have noticed we ignored anything related to this chip so far here on the news (it's of course heavily discussed on our forums). The reason is very simple, I think most of our visitors trust our news for this type of information and we don't want to give attention to fakes/scams (good or bad news it's all publicity). So just like we don't post about fake bootdiscs, videos and alike (posting such things will just motivate even more people to do similar 'jokes'), new teams announcing a new modchip concept will have to provide enough proof (so no fake pictures, impossible OS features and what-not) or support from trusted teams/people/shops before we'll post about it.

Anyways (damn, now I still ended up talking about that chip on the news) ... what I wanted to post about is that team xecuter re-confirms that real 1st-gen modchips are coming in a reasonable amount of time to the Xbox 360, taking the doubt away from some people that they were referring to the 'thing' above in their previous news post:

I hope it's the same. This would just open the door for modding. If the chips somehow play unsigned content, which I doubt, then I assume they would not work with Live. If the game simply make the disc in the DVD drive pass the media check, then I assume that they (backups) would work, but this would not allow for modding/cheating.

Yeah I really hope there is no cheating, but the data files on the disc are not signed just the exec, so if someone finds a way to edit the data files this could lead to cheating

yeah its working fine for me as well if any is still having trouble connecting here is the whole article:

There has been much hype surrounding a possible 360 chip that was allegedly tested by just one mod retailer (who has absolutley no real influence in the scene - so thats suspicious to start with). We've kinda kept quiet on this one due to the fact that at least one other mod chip maker had been trying to do "business" with them so we wanted to see how it played out.

There has been no picture or video evidence and no technical information - again very strange and suspicious. In the past all major mod teams including ourselves and Xenium and SmartXX always gave something real to chew on before a release.

First this site shows a picture of a mod - which is blatantly bullshit. Looked like some pic emulator board (later found to be true)

Then they say sorry as its a fake picture !?!

Then they post a picture of a bios config screen similar to what you'd see with X3 Config Live and others) but they say they arent doing any unsigned code hacking ?!?

Now we hear this from Divineo...

Our point of view is that this is not real, or possibly they had some success but discovered some new security structure in the 360 and are scratching their heads but of course posted the news too quickly.

If this was ever real they would first go to someone like Xbox-Scene with a demo and then of course Divineo, not some website shop that no one has ever heard of -especially for something that would be such a huge breakthrough.

All we say to the scene is don't go putting too much credence (or funds for that matter) into anything that isn't proven as real. We can assure you there will be more than one type of mod available from different groups in the coming weeks/months - just be patient.
