Typical electrical solder melts at 190 degrees.
What the fuck are you talking about?
Anyway, I found out that E 73 could also be attributed to a problem with the chip, that has 4 holes on the board. It's to the left of the ANA.
I fixed it by placing a make-shift heat sink on it, by cutting out some flat metal, and attaching it with 4 long screws.
I noticed it when I applied pressure to the chip, the error went away. So, doing the same with the bolts and washers for it, the error went away.

sorry if this is already covered somewhere here, but it is not listed on the first page under secondary error codes.... Here is my situation, my console gives the 3 RROD (green light on power bar), but only on cold boot, let it sit for 1-2 minutes flashing, reboot and the console starts up fine. When checking for secondary code I get all four lights flashing rapidly, continuously. The only other clue I have is that when started without video cable plugged in it does not give the four flashing lights one expects, but starts once cable is plugged in. Also, if video cable is unplugged while unit is on the four light do not start to flash! however the unit does shut down after several minutes without the video cable plugged in so it must recognise this, just does not give the four flashing lights error.
Any suggestions?

Yestorday I fixed a box with error code 0101. Seeings it was unkown i tried some different things. I heatgunned the ram chips, southbridge, GPU and CPU and the ANA chip and the lines inbetween them. Because the kid said he had one red light before it got to the 3 rings. He couldn't recall the E code. After i heated the chips i let it cool and did the hybrid fix. And its running to this date after a month of hard gaming with Forza 2 QUOTE(reactorman @ Mar 30 2009, 06:13 PM) Hey,
I've got section 1, 3, and 4 lit up with red lights. The power is still green. I have no error code. There is no audio or video output. Could it be that I just need a new cable?
Reactorman
What you want to do is press the sync button and open dvd drive button at the same time to get the code. This post has been edited by t3hw1nn3r: Mar 31 2009, 04:21 PM

Honestly, you should send it back if you can cause that's free. If not I'd recommend heat gunning it then doing the hybrid x-clamp replacement.

Well got my 360 off a friend who almost never used it. Was in perfect brand new condition and bought in 2007. After some ridiculous talks with MS people, I got registration/warrranty transfered to my name, but since its Only 1 red light, and not 3 they wont repair it for free.
Alas, now I have disassembled my xbox all the way down to the motherboard, and after trying to figure out exact problem with e74 1022 by reading these forums for 2 days, I cant really seem to get a universal answer anywhere. Looking @ motherboard, Its all foreign to me and I have no real experience in this kind of work.
So early next week Im going to try to do an x-clamp replacement following some of the guides here and if that doesnt work, going to try my luck with a Heat gun on certain areas..... so good luck to me, and If i dont manage to destroy my 360 completely ill try to post my results here.
Ill check back occasionally if anyone has any advice or small tips for me. thanks

Hi, I'm new to the forum, and my Xbox has been broken for the past seceral months and been opened at least 50 times and im at the point where i fixed the x-clamps so the red rings stopped and i just had to use a lighter to make the encoder chip work, but just the other day i accidentally burnt a couple things and i started freezing and then got the red rings with the 0102 error. I've looked around, and apparently there are several different things that could work, and I need to just start working on every possible fix so can everybody pls give me detailed ways on all the fixes please, that would be a huge help so I can try to fix it. I'm trying to find a job so i can buy a new one but i just need a couple extra months. btw, pls talk in stupid terms as this complicated stuff hurts my head

Usually if you heat gun it it works, if not, take everything off and make sure it isn't warped. Then take the box and heat gun it again but only slightly longer then you previously have. Then do the team hybrid fix.

ok, i got it to stop doing the rings somewhat and now it just keeps doing the E74 error with the 1022 code and i believe its an encoder chip problem, so is there something other than a heatgun i can use because i dont have one and also where do i buy a new encoder chip and how much will it cost?

you can't buy another as far as i know, but usally if you put pressure between it on both sides as you heatgun it, it works.

Hi to all, I am having 3RROD and Secondary error code 0103 on my falcon board. I did the xclamp fix, but it worked only for a day max. (tried the fix over and over) My GPU heatsink gets burning hot while my cpu heatsink stays cold. What I would like to know is whether the prob is with my GPU or CPU? And secondly what options do I have? Thx in advance .

Thx in advance wink.gif. sounds like its not sitting correctly on the gpu chip try reapplying the thermal paste and removing a washer from under the heat sink i only use 1 nylon washer on the topside of the board and ive fixed about 8 RROL xboxs

addition: in my case the E71 Error was that there was something wrong with the dvd drive.
