Bunnie About Free60 Project Development -- Posted by XanTium on February 2 22:26 EST
Bunnie posted some new comments about the development of the free60 Project on his blog:
I have been able to find the time to make minor contributions to the Free60 project (see if you can't guess which pages are mine...I've been posting under a different alias to avoid undue attention, as that can be harmful to good teamwork and make it difficult to receive honest peer review), and it has been very interesting to watch the progress of the project overall. Currently, it seems that the shader hack is still quite promising, as well as people looking directly at the DVD firmware. The quality and acumen of the hackers out there is simply outstanding. I don't think you could raise enough money to form a company of finer and more motivated engineers-and remarkably, nobody is being paid to do this. I guess that's the power of passion.
Andrew "bunnie" Huang is one of the main guys behind the original Xbox hacking (extracting RC4 key), he's also known for his book "Hacking the Xbox".

I am glad too he's involved in hacking the 360, however he told us we're going in the wrong direction:

bunnie will definitely contribute, but we've got our own team assembled. We should also try to make some progress with this.

Thanks bunnie!

lol your post sounded like you are rejecting help from anyone, including bunnie, as if he were offering it to you in the first place... and how exactly is your "assembled team" contributing... im just curious because your website looks, umm, bare...

I respect Bunnie a lot, I really do. We all should. I give him mad props which we should all do, too.

But is it just me, or are his last comments posted on X-S just observations of what's going on in the scene and add no real value to anything news-wise for X-S readers?

Again, I'm not trying to make anyone mad and am certainly not saying anything bad about Bunnie - it's not his fault X-S posted his observations from his 'blog' - or at least I don't think so.

But again, doesn't this and the last X-S post about "Bunnie's thoughts" here on X-S offer nothing new or useful or anything or is it just me? If it's just me, let me know. X-S has posted VERY interesting things about Bunnie (even recently) but I'm just saying from my view this one and the last one seem like they shouldn't have been posted.

Feel free to disagree - I want to see what others think - do you agree with me or no? I think X-S should keep "Bunnie" posts to those posts that offer useful insight/information and not just an observation of what's transpired in the last week or two or what not in the scene which is what these last two posts seem to be.

Is it just me?

** Please, for the love of God, though, let's keep this mature and not flame or attack anyone personally and call names or anything like that. It's unneeded.

By all means I agree with you about keeping this mature and avoid of personal attacks. When I think about this situation as a corporate conglomerate the first thing that comes to my mind when putting together a strike force to build the next-gen console is securing Bunnie. Obviously having the ability to sit on billions of cash in the bank gives that capability. Honestly, in my opinion, and by all means no personal attack on Bunnie himself, but I wouldn't trust anything he contributes this time around. Everyone already knows all eyes will be on Bunny, even a corporate conglomerate. So why can't a corporate conglomerate use that to their advantage say in exchange for a trust fund that will put your kid in college, thats just an example. I wonder what seven degrees of separation there are between bunnie's company and MS?
Bunnie has been assimilated somehow.

Basic air-
I don't check bunnie's blog, but his opinion means more to me than anyone here on this scene. It's just nice to hear what he thinks about our glorified dilemma, no matter how useless his thoughts are.

I think Bunnie is only observing because that is the role that he has chosen to take. He has said before that he will not take an active role in hacking the Xbox 360.

Nevermind. I decided and admit I am wrong in a lot of what I said in my post. There is significant value in this Bunnie X-S story but it seems the last one didn't.

But anyways...

:embarassed:

I respect Bunnie... I think we should give him mad props for still being here, taking a new role in the 360, and we should all be gratefull that he is contributing...

MS would be in his case so bad if the 360 somehow gets hacked.. even if he probably didnt do it...

I dont think bunnie would hack the 360, and claim, or even want to take credit for it.. as he said.. its more for passion.. thats why he is atleast helping anonymusly...
