Halo 2 Coming to Windows Vista, not XP -- Posted by XanTium on February 9 16:33 EST
From bbc.co.uk:
[QUOTE]
Halo fans will have to upgrade their computer if they want to follow Master Chief's adventures on the PC.

Microsoft has announced that the PC version of Halo 2 will only work on the new version of Windows called Vista.
The decision could make it expensive for many to play the game if they have to buy the new version of Windows and extra hardware for their PC.
Microsoft has given no definite release date for Vista but it is expected to be available by the end of 2006.

hell, by the time they make halo 2 work on windows vista, halo 5 will be out tongue.gif

o, btw. doesn't bungie realize this is only going to open the door for even MORE modding? I mean, if they release it with multiplayer capabilities?

Halo 2 on the PC to be released over 2 years after the xbox release? Who cares anyway...

Here's a laugh from the bungie site...

Q: Why are you releasing Halo 2 for Windows Vista only?
A: As Bungie Studios and MS are dedicated to delivering a top quality translation of Halo 2 for the PC, their efforts require the use of the best available technological platform for Windows games. Windows Vista will help bring clarity to our customers and help them get more out of their personal computing experience, allowing them to focus on what matters most to them.

Did they even answer the question? What a great FAQ. HA HA HA.

Forcing users to buy a new PC OS to play a game that will be over 2 years old at release...who else but MS would do that...

There have been rumours for a while now. MS obviously wanted this to happen. Why wouldn't they have lied before? MS wanted the Xbox to be successful. MS wants Vista to quickly become the standard. MS wants to extend their dominance in the PC software field. It is very obvious to anyone that this was going to occur.

Ehh.. Halo 2 isn't worth it. If every other awesome PC game works on XP, screw Vista, screw MS, and screw Halo 2. -.-

Vista will not deliever "A good gaming experience" for a while.

Oh well, I guess I'll have to have VMWare running so I can use XP MCE and Vista at the same time, unless we are given Vista MCE of course.

agreed. i already have halo 2 for xbox so I don't even want a copy for my PC. and, hopefully the elder scrolls 4: oblivion for PC becomes the new halo 2, except without all the damn modders and whiney 6 yo's on xbl.

Shrug, if you like(d) the game you've played it to death already. If their (MS) flagship game for Vista happens to be Halo 2, and older game, too bad for them. They should have put Perfect Dark Zero on Vista with a patch that unlocks Jumping and the 'Fun' button.

All an all, from a consolers point of view this isn't all that interesting.

p.s. - Im sure a few of us here don't even feel like testing out vista until at least SP1 wink.gif
