wxHdd v1.0 GUI Xbox 360 HD tool and wxTheme v1.1
-- Posted by XanTium on February 12 00:00 EST
Gael360 released a new GUI tool that will allows you to easily read/navigate the files/data on the Xbox 360 HD with a win32 PC. The application can't write files on the HD/Dump yet. From gueux-forum.net (I translated it from french to english):
There are 2 ways to navigate (read) the Xbox360 HD: * With the first button (Open File) to open a dump of the disc (faster and more secure) * Or you can read directly from the disc (in that case the Xbox360 disc must be selected as default) by using the icon on the right (Open Disc)
This is the first version, the program will evolve in the coming days, including support for PIRS files.
Some info about the content of the disc: * Cache: as the name says ... used for caching * Content: sub-dir 0000... contains the demos and other things you downloaded from LIVE. The other sub-dirs are user profiles. * mindex: contains music files (both the original music files that come with the HD and those you recorded/transfered) * H2: unknown (something with Halo2?) * Compatibility: Xbox 1 gamesaves * $systemupdate: Last weeks system (kernel/dashboard) update? (seems to contain the dashboard/system files (xex files) flashed on the Xbox360 TSOP during the update)
Gael360 also released an update of wxTheme, a tool used to extract the content of Xbox 360 theme files. From gueux-forum.net(1)/gueux-forum.net(2) (also translated to english):
The biggest difference is an improved handling of the PIRS format to allow extracting theme files located on the Xbox 360 HD. You'll find the themes you downloaded from LIVE in this directory on your Xbox360 HD (atleast that's where they were on my console): \Content\0000000000000000\FFFFE07D1\00030000
You can also use this software to open PIRS files other than themes files, but with some bugs. I'm working on a more stable application dedicated to PIRS files.
Hopefully something like this will eventually allow us to put our legacy saves onto the 360. I really don't like the idea of unlocking all of that content over again.

Im thinking that something like this will eventually lead to us makeing our own themes...And with our own themes we might be able to find some sort of exploit, because Its just a matter of time before we are able to hack this consol, and when that time comes i will be here celebrateing with everyone else :-D

this is another good thing like the kiosk disc. i hope that with this tool at somepoint we will be able to have full acess the the hdd. if someone could copy over some of these system files and screwa round with them find some bug/exploit then copy them back onto the console. i guess if we could get our gamesaves on from xbox 1 like the splinter cell save, but i doubt that would work. that would have been way to obvious.

this won't allow you to play games from the harddrive. anyone thinking that should be shot and forced to read about media flags while bleeding to death. It is simply an exploration tool and nothing more at this point. the themes are signed. the pirs are signed. you can't create you own. if you think it is something that will allow you to hack the console then you are very mistaken. reading and writing custom filesystems it a long long long long way from any sort of hack. lets all understand this before idiots start chiming in with how wonderfully hacked this thing is going to be in a short time. those wanting exploits should look back at xbox 1 and see how the patched firmware was around for a long time before the exploits even came about. There was also a $100,000 incentives for people looking to exploit this console to run linux with no hardware mods. It takes time to figure out the exploitable target and with the hypervisor in the 360 it is a slim chance anything like this would even work.
