Fight Night Controls, which do you prefer?

I just started playing the series and I feel like i can whip out the combos way better with the face buttons, and only go to the stick for haymakers. I feel like I'm missing out on something by doing it this way though. Thoughts? Anybody find that they got used to the "Total Punch Control" after a while?
