Okay, so I FINALLY hooked my Xbox up to my PC, and successfully installed Evox using Slayer's disc. However, it erased all my save games.

Thankfully, I did back-up my hard drive before I did anything. So how do I recover my saves? I'm not sure, but when I look at my back-up, it looks like they're in E:UDATA. Is that right? If so, do I simply copy everything back over to my Xbox E drive?

Thanks,
Zack.

What did you expect Slayers to do???

Anyway, all you need to do is FTP the backed up E: folder back to the X-Box HDD and your saves will all magically re-appear.

BioVore,

I'm not quite sure what I expected. smile.gif Anyway, should I transfer the entire backed-up E drive over, therefore overwriting the E drive I have in my Xbox now (with a couple of games backed up by the way)? Or just transfer all the files within my old E drive to my new E drive? Is there anything in the E Drive I can screw up so that the Xbox doesn't boot or anything like that?

Thanks for the prompt response!

Zack.

No the E drive is used just for Game saves, so you can Restore your back on the the box safely, and you will get all you old game saves back.

It would have been very helpfull if before you downloaded and blindly ran an installer or any piece of software on your computer or XBox, you bothered to read the included documentation.

This is not a VCR you can just plug in without reading the manual. There are no excuses for not reading the docs!

It still surprises me you've had enough sense to backup your data before using...

In order to get it you must have spent some time searching. Next time, allocate some time to reading the included docs, that's why they are there.

1wolf1,

Actually, I did read both docs that came with the software... several times actually, and I just read them again a minute ago. I saw nothing that said game saves are erased.

Really, it's no big deal. I backed everything up, and I'll just transfer them back over. It really is a great piece of software, and I really admire you for making it. I just hit a minor snag, that's all.

Slayers set of tools are awesome. I've used them many times without error. Just like any great tool it comes with responsibilities - take fire to example =)

As far as your saves, yeah try restoring your E drive. Good luck!

I use slayers disc, I love it,. but I cant seem tofigure out how to update the rom list with the correct checksums for the new roms, like the 4976.02 so it dont say "unknown" for bios

This is really old EvoX stuff, but here we go again:

Once you install and you're up and running, just edit the "evox.ini" file. Under the list or ROM entries there is a "Current" entry. Copy the MD5 code after the "=" and make your own ROM entry in the list!

Actually, if you really did read you would have seen that a "REBUILD" wipes the HD clean. That is why my number 1 warning for everyone is to do a backup of E: and F: before anything!

Since there is no way for me to "save" your game data (it's a read only CD-ROM, remember) you are sesponsible for restoring your backup once the installer completes. This is not a bug, it is by design.

No matter, glad to hear all is OK.
