hey all

i need to get the eeprom off this dying machine. like an idiot, i didn't finish modding the drive when i had it working, even though i was told the box was having issues. i powered down, began unplugging, then plugged it back in for a sec...and no joy.

need to get this thing running really soon.

i believe it's a 1.6. i've got a never installed X3CE and a xapt3r for my 1.4 system. it has flashbios 3.0.1 on it + x3 3294 bios.

is a chip the only way to get my eeprom from this dead 1.6? do i have to put on a newer bios onto the chip to make it work with 1.6?

Thanx in advance.

You will have to install the chip in order to install a new hard drive. The chip must be flashed with a 1.6 bios so that it will work on the version 1.6 xbox. You will also have to do an LPC rebuild to get the chip to work, because some points arent connected to the lpc.

rebuild:

ewww....that doesn't look like much fun.

any other ways to get an eeprom, or to flash this eeprom without a working drive?

does the LPC build have any effect once the chip is removed?

thanx

Dvd drives can cause an error 7, but it does not happen as much as a hard drive does. Try a different dvd drive out of another xbox and see if that fixes it. If it doesnt then it is the hard drive and it will have to be chipped to fix it. The rebuild isnt that bad it only takes about 10 minutes to do, and it has no effect on the xbox when the chip is removed. If you dont want to do it, I can install my chip in it, do a rebuild and install a new Hd for a good price. PM me if your interested.

It's the hard drive for sure. hard drive is "clicking". worked great for the first hour or so, but when i unplugged it and tried to put it back together, the system no longer functioned and the hard drive clicked. this is not the first time it happened to me, but i didn't get that drive to work ever again either. luckily, i had an eeprom on that system

this one is a western digital drive.

I just didn't want to setup the 1.6 for all this work with my chip when the chip is meant for the 1.4.

thanx
