ok i have an old version 1.1 xbox and one day after i took off a softmod that i put on, the ethernet port stopped working, i do not know why but i would like ot use it again if possible, and also, would this be a hardware problem or a software problem? if it is a hardware problem can i simply just put another harddrive in my xbox?

it doesnt read that there is any activity in the ethernet cable, so i cant put the softmod back on it because it doesnt reconise that there is anything connected to the ethernet cable

i connected my xbox with my comp via LAN, so it was connected using an ethernet cable, then i transfered the files from my comp to my xbox through the LAN, this is the only way i know how to softmod...

To softmod, you either need to burn a CD to try and boot from with an ISO or you must use a Gamesave Exploit. There is no way to just...Transfer files without the Xbox being modded in some possible way.

Is there a green light right above the ethernet port when you have the cable plugged in? If not, then it is definitely a hardware problem. It could be the cable or the port on either end.
