Let me interpret:
"Oh god! Please don't copy our games, our publishers and software partners are going to be pist if you do... The REAL security wasn't broken, it was just some other thing that we didn't think about. Come on, our bad, please don't take advantage of it... We'll zap you with a Live update, so don't try it! Wah wah wah..."
The whole thing sounded like a desperate cry to hackers not to deliver the death blow, if you ask me

I really dont want to see the 360 crash and burn like the Dream Cast did. So if that was their desperate cry out for the hackers not to release it and if it is then I cry right with them.
To have the 360 to run only backed up games and not able to run homebrew will bring the 360 and MS to their knees and all the publishers will not release any more games for it because they will not make the money back. I am glad this hack hasnt been release, and if there is any one out there that can comeup with a software flash, keep it to yourself and buddies. Dont release it out to the wild as you will be the hand that will deal the killing blow to the 360.
If you want the 360 to play games but you cant pay the $60 price tag for a game, then the 360 isnt for you and you need to get a better paying job. Hell maybe you need to learn to price match or wait for deals on games.
Off topic but usefull - I pickup Elder Scrolls IV at bestbuy for 44.95 because I priced matched it to compusa (but they didnt have it in stock and bestbuy did). My buddy got it for 25.00 because he had some bestbuy points.
