I was just wondering exactly what is the latest version of XBOX? Is it 1.6C or 1.7?

And I was also wondering what type of dvd-rom is used?

And furthermore I was wondering if the latest version can also be softmodded like the older ones?

Thanks In Advance!

Nah, I was hearing that there have been higher than b's I think they are c's. They have Hitachi DVD drives. Krayzie corrected me on that the other day.

Allright thanks guys.

Now does anyone here know where I can get a NEW XBOX console online? I've been searching but all I can seem to find are REFURBISHED models.

Gamestop.com? Also, new XBoxes come with either a Samsung Revision F, HL-DT, or new Philips drive in them. You would most likely get the HL (Hitachi)

Nor Gamestop, Ebgames and Amazon sell new xboxes. All of them are refurbished or factory refurbished...

PS. and as you can see on this site: there seems to be a v1.7 too blink.gif

Solderless installation on Xbox V1.0, V1.1, V1.2, V1.3, V1.4, V1.5, V1.6, V1.6B and V1.7.
Extra layer on the v1.7 must be scratched to work flawless.

1.7 is another way of saying 1.6b, except some claim that the 1.6bs with more laqure are 1.7s. Electrically, they are the same. Some people use 1.6b and 1.7, however, the right way to say it is 1.6b. Its kind of like IDE and ATA, IDE is recognized as the same as ATA (but is not).
