ok first of all i have never been a fan of Morrowind. all it is , is a game of wandering around..

anyways here goes.

i got it cuz i wanted to try the first action rpg for the 360... boy what a god damnmistake and a waste of money that was.

1)
the game isnt THAT good looking. Seriously people. look at it.. there are 3 G5 processors running 3ghz and an X1900 GPU under the hood and this is all they could do ? gimmi a break.. this game is NOT nextgen and its NOT that beautiful it isnt anyone who says it is.. has been playing their nintendo 64 way too long.
2)
i have never in my life seen a game load as much as this does.
2a)
when your outside the fooker is constantly loading every 100 yards. and guess what happens when it does that. MY game, MY console practically comes to a standstill. and i mean that.. the system goes thru a series of studders and stalls until its loaded and even then it still is jittery. Right now i cant even hardly play it since everytime the damn thing loads it either.. locks up the xbox.. or just stops for about 20 seconds and then sudders on.
2b)
loading when you open doors.. go from inside to outside. etc its friggin incredibly long.. and i mean just way to damn long....
3)
basically for the first 50 hours of the game you have to just wander around and collect crap or steal crap.. which gets you no where until later in the game. so your bogged down with all this useless shit and no place to store the items... you should be able to dig a friggin hole and bury that crap somewhere..
4)
the game studders and crap again many times when your wandering around and someone says something. the game hickups right when they start talking
5)
pop up oh yes there is popup.. but not in the background... but things 100 yards in front of you...
they had it in their head that they needed to make the outside world so friggin big and the view distance so far the unless your within 100 feet of something it all looks like crap and things pop up in front of you as your walking along.
6)
i hate to repeat myself but for god sake what they could have handled the outdoors ALOT better way way way too much loading going on.
and yes i did the whole hold down the A button when the game loads so it deletes the cache.. thats bullshit and i'll guarentee you that i saw things get worse..

This game,, considering the hardware under the hood performs like a big pile of crap.
i hate the game.. and unless your a hardcore Morrowind fan.. you may see the same things i do.. or similar.

7)
3rd person view is useless for anything but walking about. and it looks like your a retard when you look at the way they make you look when your walking.. its just stupid...
fighting in third person .. forget it stick to 1st person.

8)
Audio.. what audio ther eis nothing special here.. infact.. id say its a VERY bland game for audio with the sa, god damn music playing in the background over and over and over.....

9)

you best have your unit in a place with lots of air flow cuz this game will heat your box up real good...
again another point to my comments made months ago about how idiotic M$ was for making this 360 the way they did... it needed to be bigger with at a minimum 3 times the amount of air flow.. you cant cool devices like this just by sucking the air off them you have to have cool air blowing across them and there isnt all those fans do is suck all the hot air in the box.. right over the top of the gpu and cpu's and they dont cool for crap. alot of the games so far are heating the box up way too much but this game is warming it up good.

i have a FS thread right now for anyone who wants this pile of crap game... $50 its yours shipped in the usa.

i have a feeling my box is fucked.. so im calling M$ when i can and talking to them and demanding a replacement unit.. no way this game and console should be running like this. i cant hardly play the damn game cuz of the lockups and studdering and stalling..

You must be fucking blind. You said Oblivion looks bad? Maybe you are just mad because your Xbox broke down, or because your Xbox is fucked.

I have to agree, this game SUCKS. The graphics are nothing special. The actual gameplay itself it horrible, just walk around and find things, not exiting at all. I traded perfect dark zero, and fifa for this, what a mistake.

And the point of all this complaining is? we all have opinions on what we like. I happen enjoy the game its deep and not mindless, do you actually read all the books/papers you find? interresting tale and is pretty immersive, me and my wife sit here doing shots of tequila playing it all night.

to each his own i guess...... wink.gif

I know for a fact, that I have to agree with the graphical issue. Sure it may seem good, but it's not great at all, the details in those grass and all, wow, it doesn't desrve a 9/10.

Performance and graphic issues aside, Oblivion (Morrowind too) is a full PC style RPG game. Typically you never find those on consoles which use more turn based and linear story lines. I think some people who have never played games of this genre are finding out how incredibly fun they can be. Others will simply hate it and find the entire thing unappealing. Basically, if you are compatible with this genre you will love Oblivion and if you are not you will hate the game and think it a waste of time. Basically 2 groups at polar ends of the spectrum and it's all due to the types of games they happen to like. Morrowind was the same, obcessive adoration which can take up a huge amount of one's life or extreme pointlessness and waste of time. I don't see anyone ever fall into the middle ground - which obviously means that Bethesda makes some damn good PC RPG games you just have to be into that sort of thing.

My only complaints are the constant loading times and the fact that I was expecting way more in terms of outdoor graffics (trees, grass, etc). It doesn't live up to the hype imo.

The pop-ups were also something that I just couldn't believe I was seeing. It was well overhyped but still a decent game. It doesn't deserve a better score than Ghost recon though.

I don't agree with all the negative opinions here, but that's just my opinion, oh well, I'm replying to the poster, maybe your hard drive f-ed....I know mine is....it looked like it was going bad for a few weeks now, sometimes vids on the hdd would stutter and whatnot, I know the behavior....that's why I bought a memory card just in case...well, last night was it, I booted up to an error 67....no hdd, xbox works great....put it back in, it's either error or takes a long time to boot...and Oblivion played like hell with it attached....you're selling the game, cool, just a warning about the hard drive, glad I got the extended warranty, I'll hopefully be getting a new hdd monday from ebgames....the Dead Rising trailer was a good test to check for stuttering....Oblivion played alright with the hdd, worse without it, with the bad hdd, I thought the game was locking up....

I'm sorry you feel that way about the game.

I agree with you to some extent. And I can completley understand why you hate the game, it's not for everyone.

I do agree that the 3rd person view completely sucks, but I always play it in 1st person so it's no big deal to me.

My only complaint is that the game isn't really giving me that "next gen" feel.

Hear me out on this because I LOVED Morrowind, and i LOVE Oblivion, however, it's really just Morrowind with better graphics and performance.

Which don't get me wrong, I am all about. But it's pretty much just an enchanced Morrowind, however I loved Morrowind so much that this is fine for me.

Some people like slower paced games. I am 10 hours in and I haven't even gone to Kvatch to start the main storyline. I've been reading books in the game and exploring all the caves and forts surrounding the Imperial City.

I love sports games, action/adventure games, 1st person shooter, and good rpg's. and when I play and RPG, I love to just walk around and explore the world that the developers created and find and see all there is to find and see.

Some people love this, and others hate it. It's not so much that the game sucks, it's just not your style.

For example, I totally hate the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games, I can't stand em. I don't think they suck though, I think they are a great game for what it is. It's just not something I can get into however, but I can easily see how millions of other people love them so much.

It's just a matter of what stlye of game do you like to play that's all.

My two cents on this topic: The next-gen RPG to beat. I can't wait to see how Fable 2 turns out. And of course for KoTOR 3.

I've only had a few problems with loading times. Longest I've had to wait is about 40 seconds on the opening load. Usually just around 10 to 15 seconds, and in game loads are closer to about 5 for doors and a half a second for the loading new areas when you're walking around.

This game is next-gen. It deserves the score it got. Not higher, not lower.

I've been complaining about every x360 game so far, but with this game I just cannot find anything to complain about. It so well thought out and perfectly executed that it just deserves to be called one of the games games in the world.

Sure, the loading times could be faster and some characters could look better, but this is by far the most advanced free-roaming game in the history of video gaming. Every hill you see is reachable. Every house you see can be entered. Every people react. GTA and its supposedly big world and is so paper thin when compared to this one. GTA's skyscrapers and apartments are all sorry theatrical settings, Oblivions buildings are enterable and feel like real things.

It's the first game that has so much content that not only do I feel its price is justified, but I also feel I could've paid even more - the biggest compliment I can ever give to a game.
