Phoenix Loader And Evox Options

My friend brought me his xbox and says its broken and because im good on computers i should try and fix it.

So i take it apart and just look at it for the first time and then i found xbox-scene and started looking around at stuff. So i was finding things on how you can add a pc dvd drive, so i went out and bought one and hooked it up as this article said http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/swap-dvd.php

After i hooked it up i realized the xbox had to be modded in order to do this. But then i found these articles

that said i can fully unlock my xbox with no mod chip so i started looking into that. I easily hotswapped my first time using the hdd driver and uploaded free-evox and i booted up evox no problem. I followed instructions to get this bios evolutionx m8. I started to solder next but i ended up melting a couple of the points since i suck at soldering. I realized this when i tried to flash the bios it said i couldnt after i tryed about 10 times to re-solder. But as i was reading the first tutorial on modding the box i noticed at the bottom it said you could use phoenix loader to load the bios and it will work without flashing the tsop. So i ftp'd and followed some intructions to get the latest version of phoenix loader to work with bigfont25 and pbl 4.1 i think. I did everything it said by signing it with the font exploit and changed the m8.bin to xboxrom.bin in the bioses folder.

Now when i load up my box it comes to the loading of phoenix loader and says press a to chose your bios and it come to the logo screen and says xboxrom.bin so press a again and a few things come up again like loading xboxrom.bin and setting param and then the last thing it says is calculating 2bl something i cant quite read and it just stops, nothing happens.

My question is here.. Was i wrong about the phoenix loader working, or did i do something wrong? do i have to wrong bios and is it possible to get the phoenix loader to work. I also found a tsop flash guide that shows how i can solder in a different spot to get the same connection since i melted the point, so im wondering is it possible to use phoenix loader or should i go back to evox dashboard and try to flash the tsop using these extended soldering points?

Please any help will be greatly appreciated im sorry for all the reading.

PS - now when i try to hotswap my hdd driver says invalid filename a million times and closes when its trying to read to hd

I suggest you start looking at the date of the guides you are using. try the pinned topics in this forum for more usefull stuff.
