Exclusive: Team Avalaunch Xbox360 SATA Adapter -- Posted by XanTium on April 2 18:44 EST
Here are some shots we received of another Xbox 360 Harddrive SATA adapter currently in development by the guys at Team Avalaunch(info). The small PCB will allow you to connect your Xbox 360 HD on your PC without removing it from its case. You'll notice that for the connection to the Xbox 360 HD and for the PC SATA data-cable they used simple tracks/lines on the PCB. For the power there are 2 options: either a mini-B USB port (like used on PSP or many digital cams for example) so you can power the Xbox 360 HD with a cable from your PC's USB port (data will still go over SATA, this is no SATA-to-USB device) or you can power the HD via a standard 5v pin (like you can find on many electronic devices like the connector to recharge your PSP for example). There will also be adapters for both small and large HD power connectors to get power from the PC PSU.
The public/retail release is expected just after easter. There's no final price yet, but they are working on getting an as low as possible retail price.

Looks like a cheaper ripoff of the 360SATA crews interface, But would be interesting to see how much more expensive its going to be once they supply all the diffrent power interface cables. Why make it so hard?

Now we know why Qwix 2 is taking to long ........ Get ya finger out boys !

I don't see the point of this. If your opening your comp to get a SATA cable (which most ppl do) then you may as well get power from there too. I could see where it could be handy, for SATA USB adapters etc, but really, is it necessary?

I'll stick with the 360SATA. More of a home-grown startup idea, which is what I support. Avalaunch has dissapointed me with their lack of updates and lack of Qwix 2 releases. This SATA adapter is just a clone of 360SATA's. I'll stick with the original, and support them for taking the risk. And like flashfreak said, it's better to have the Molex connector right on the PCB.

Weak as hell , either make it a full usb adapter or stick with the original design .

Why make it alot more complex then it has to be ??

ehh, isnt some one else already making one of these?

and I agree with the usb thing. its a pain in the ass to get into my case, not to mention all my sata ports are taken up by my raid configuration. a usb connection would be more useful

avalaunch should stick to working on avalaunch and qwix... its an awesome piece of software thats been neglected for way too long

... they both are in development...

and this is a much nicer option then the 360sata device, those of us that have external SATA ports ($4 pci cover adapter on newegg), always have to supply an external source of power, having it all coming from the pc is a very big bonus.. good work.. ill take one

I like that this one uses the usb for power. I am short on power dongles, and don't want to have to diconects one of the 6 HD or 2 CDs or 2 for the VC everytime I want to use it.

I am going to wait for this one.

Are you serious? because all you need to do to get that image to go away is UPDATE THE DASH, that was an old version from like 2 years ago with the X-Mas message, or make your own bootimage, simple enough and really not team avalaunch's fault you don't know how to fix it.

Hmm won't some PCs have problems pulling that much current from the usb?

when i was using a usb-ide laptop hdd adapter it was having power problems and had to switch to a bigger power supply.

forgive my complete ignorance on this subject, but what benefits are there in being able to connect your 360 hdd to your pc?

can you transfer mp3's/pix etc directly onto it?

can you delete your save games and any crappy demos you downloaded?
