This tutorial illustrates how to create an animated Gif or Avatar utilizing a freeware application titled "Gif Animator 2.0" made by Ulead back in the late 90's. This application is rather old and doesnt offer advanced features such as 'tweening', though it can easily create a basic animated Gif, Avatar, slide show or smiley.

You will need a photo or drawing application to make your images to use with this animator. You could also use current images to create a slide show, though the images should be cropped to a uniform size prior to adding them to the animator.

This tutorial is ideal for those of you that have a basic photo or drawing application and are looking for a method to animate some of your illustrations in a Gif format.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Extraction utility such as Winrar to extract the downloaded program -- Winrar Link
  • Photo or drawing software (for those creating thier own images)
  • Ulead Gif Animator 2.0 Freeware Program (links to freeware sites hosting this program are listed below)
Freeware Site 1: - - Zisman.ca (link to program found under "Web-Site Creation tools")
Freeware Site 2: - - Pricelessware.org (scroll down for link)
Freeware Site 3: - - Encodrex.co.uk

If any or all these links are broken, try googling for 'Ulead Animator 2.0 freeware' to locate another freeware site hosting this program.

P.S. Xbox-Scene rules allow the use of an animated Avatar, however they do not allow the use of an animated sig.

Thanks

@_iffy, just curious if you had any luck installing the app. I installed and tested the Animator 2.0 program on a Windows XP Pro SP2 system, and a Windows XP Home SP1 system, and the app installed and worked flawlessly. I think the problem lies with some of your system files as stated in the support topic I posted.

If anyone else has a hard time installing the program please list your operating System version and problem in this thread.
