Datel XSATA - SATA-to-USB device to connect Xbox 360 HD on PC -- Posted by XanTium on April 7 15:09 EST
After the announcement of the 360SATA and AvaLaunch 360 SATA to connect the Xbox 360 on your PC, here's the solution from Datel. It connects to the USB port of your PC, so the device includes a SATA-to-USB converter.
From codejunkies.com:
[QUOTE]
The problem with the Xbox 360's built-in hard drive is it just isn't big enough. 12GB of usable space might be sufficient for the casual gamer, but the hardcore joypad juggler needs more. With XSATA, the latest devious device from Datel, you can free up hard drive space by transferring content between your console and your PC. You need never run out of hard drive space on your XB360 again!

Xbox-Scene

Using your Xbox 360 file manager software such as the free PC app Xplorer360(info)(info), you can transfer materials from your console's hard drive to your PC, using your computer's hard disc space to store demos, game saves and other such materials you're not currently using. When you need them again, just transfer back to the XB360's drive. Once the data is on your PC, you can email anything that's not locked to your machine or L!VE account to your friends for them to use on their own consoles too.

XSATA is a plug-and-play device that sits between your XB360's hard drive and the console itself. There's no need to remove your XB360's hard drive to use it. The PC and the 360 can then 'share' the HDD so it can remain in place at all times. To connect, just plug the supplied cable into the High Speed USB port on the back of XSATA and into any spare USB port on your PC. XSATA is USB 2.0-compatible, so you can expect ultra-fast transfer speeds of up to 480mbps. It looks great too, with blue laser light giving a real cool edge to your console.

XSATA for Xbox 360 is in the shops now for $39.99.

Wow Datel you continue to surprise me...I don't know what to say besides GREAT idea. It combines the SATA adapter cooming out as well as a USB-->SATA cable. Works well for those of us with SATA or a conversion cable.
GREAT idea, and works for the "Average Guy" as well, and without the need to even unplug the drive.
VERY cool, I'm impressed, Datel.

daom
thats nice

not only is it usb, so you dont need to take your pc case apart
but you dont even need to detach it from the 360

that beats all the homebrew adapaters, IMO

maybe it will give them a source for improvements to their design

It's only expensive to the computer literate. I am just surprised that they are relying on non-affiliated, completely un-related software for their product to be useful.

theoretically is possible to transfer all your x360 stuff to another drive on your pc... so if i transfer everything to another sata (much bigger) will the bigger hd work as the primary storage ??

Heh. They could have made it so you can deatch the thing and seperate it from your 360!!!!

I have got my 360 ANWYHERE near the PC.

Who knows if it will even work with Xplorer360???

Being part of the first homebrew adapter...I'm bound to say this...but this really is my personal opinion.

Adam

EDIT; Oh wait it says on the box - "works with xplorer 360". Im surprised this has been allowed.
