I recently re-softmodded my Xbox from N-Knave's version to Krayzie's NDure 1.1 because I read it was far more compatible with games. So, I got it installed along with EvoX as the dashboard. I like using XBMC as my dash and after screwing around a bit, I got XBMC set as my dash again. The problem is that I don't remember exactly what all I did while "screwing around" -- but I know it involved dicking around with .xbe files and some renaming -- before I realized it was as simple as putting the XBMC default.xbe and the XBMC .xml file into E\Dashboard. Now, I cannot pull up the M$ dashboard from either XBMC or EvoX.

Can someone please tell me the filename, file size, and correct location for the M$ dashboard .xbe? I found one that I thought was the correct one (filename xboxdash.xbe, size 1.87MB) but when I put that in the root of my C drive and try to go to the M$ dash I get the multi-language "This Xbox needs service" message.

Thanks much!

Upper left hand corner of what? There's no number in the "Your Xbox needs service" message.

I've found two xboxdash.xbe files that I've tried putting in the root of C:
1. In E\Backup\MS -- file size 1.87MB (service message)
2. In E\Backups\CDrive -- file size 1.84 MB (screen flickers then just goes black)

When I use the 1.87MB file and try to go to my M$ dashboard, the LED ring on my Xbox flashes red and green.

This thread will give you the info on how to FTP a fresh MS dash after a softmod:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=496263

You will proberbly need to patch a fresh set of Dash files on your PC with Ndure 3.0 and FTP them to your xbox.

Make sure you read enough to get the right info for your exact situation.
