Well i did this mainly for myself but i hope its helpful to other people, not that we need another tutorial, but i took as many pics as i could and made it as easy as possible. Let me know if this helps or clears up things a lil bit.

Let me know if there is anything that could be updated as well.

Sorry if this has been answered already, but is a real 360 dvd drive neccessary to extract the secure sector? I ask because a recent tutorial (first page on engadget) explains how to rip games using any dvd drive.

It would be much more convenient using an old DVD-ROM drive just for ripping games and not having to constantly reflash the 360 drive.

Yes, it requires you to take appart your drive, and do a swap method with a dvd. If anyone has the link for the tutorial, please post it here and i can add it to my tutorial for anyone that wants to do it that way.

Here's the link:

***Shitlisted on XS***
(remove space)

XS didn't allow me to link to it earlier, so I just removed it.

So, just to clarify, the secure sector is accessable this way?

Thanks, that link has been added for people that want to do it that way. There should be a seperate program to get the ss into the iso if you copied the game that way. I havnt read up enough to find out if there is a way to extract it that way but i believe you can use XBOX360_SS_Merger_1.3.rar to import it into the iso.

The best way IMO is to use the 0800 firmware and copy it from the 360

Hello all, been a long time for me in this forum.. anyways, Congrats to all that made this possible.. woohoo I love it

The story sofar.. I got firmware backed up, extracked key, placed in xtreme.bin and applyed firmware to my 360 dvd drive.. everything went well... made a back up my Elder scrolls 3, applied the ss.bin. used clonecd to burn. all went well again... I dropped the game (DVD+R DL, bit setting is DVD-ROM, band is Sony) my burnder is a Lite-on 1633s. The system booted to the menu and said that this game requires me to update the console or it will not play, so I did so.. it updated and rebooted.. I read the firmware on the drive again,. nothing has changed in it. so it looks good still... I loaded the burn elder scrolls 3 again, and this time it comes up and says " cannot read disc" 1.) clean disc with soft cloth. 2.) reboot console. I did both no change...

where did I go wrong. ???

Help please

Thanks

Make sure your not connected to the net with the hacked firmware or you will risk a ban or update that won't let you use backups anymore.
