I don't know if it's just mine, or since M$ thinks that most XBL users will stay connected to an NTP server... but why couldn't they include a little battery backup for the clock in my 400$ gaming console?

Everytime I take my system anywhere, the clock is always reset and my gamesaves and such all have bad timestamps... Not everywhere I go has wired broadband Internet for me to connect to. This seems like a small and frustrating feature loss.

Live without the time, consoles are not made for travel and they are the first to setup localized time for our lazy asses

True, but I also believe the Xbox is one of the consoles that is somewhat made for travel, thanks to the many LANs that people often have.

If you read his post, he didnt say anything about checking time with it. He said his game save stamps get screwed up, which in my mind does suck quite a bit! Especially if your trying to go to your last save and the system doesnt know which one it is since the clock got reset. Yes a battery backup would have been easy to do, but its never instituted, wasnt on the orginal and probably wont ever be!

hmm, 2 dollars for a battery. So for every million consoles they make it costs them an extra 2 million dollars. Yea, thats a great idea

Get this book, read it, and learn how 2$ is a HUGE amount of money in consoles/mass produced consumer electronics
http://www.spiderworks.com/books/xbox360.php

...they are trying to cut fractions of cents most of the time....

Also, if they did have a battery in it, it probably would just be dumb and die after awhile (like PC ones do), and boom, you would be stuck in the same position or you could void your warranty to replace it tongue.gif

I personnaly don't like leaving it switched on, in particular since it has a power supply the size of a house brick!!! This makes knowing which save game I did last very difficult.

I know any cost save they can make (£1 on every console sold throught the world means a lot) but its not like they need the money is it, global domination is the target!!!

Yes it is, and even though they are making the consoles at a loss, how much of a loss is a big factor of when they can catch up and make a profit....

Like I said before, look at that book (AND NO, i am not affiliated, i just liked the book), I was impressed and it will teach the noobs to business a bit of big business strategy....
