I was curious if the xbox v1.6 hdd eeprom was usable in an older xbox version 1.0-1.3

I dont beleive they are backwards compatible.. I havent been quite up to date with the xbox stuff lately.. But I knoww that 1.0-1.5 are interchangable.. but not the 1.6

hey there, thanks for the info JEB.
I actually went ahead without researching and decided to put the 1.6 eeprom in my 1.1-.2
the xbox frags of course, but the original eeprom works ok in it, recently i found a bridged pin on the eeprom so that might have caused a problem with it. I'll post my results when i clean it up and resolder it.

EEprom compatibility: V1.0/1.1 can be patched to use in a 1.2-1.5 box. 1.6 can only be used in a 1.6.

damn that sucks.... eeprom readers/writers that are meant for the job professional are something i can not afford. thanks for the help jrracinfan8.
