That's what we've always heard, but the facts don't bear this out.
Since 1976 (when the death penalty was reinstated), blacks have committed
50.8% of all murders, whites committed
48.4%. (In these statistics, hispanics are lumped together with whites).

57.6%. So, it would seem that blacks are
less likely to get sentenced to death than whites.
