Searched, couldn't find anything, but have you guys read this?:

http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/cgi-bin/foru...ST;f=22;t=20484

Does anyone know how to use this with XBMC? I might try to look into scripting,... might take awhile though to figure out.

Thanks guys, just seeing if this will ever be a possibility.

I have no idea how this would be implemented but I have thought about it before and definitely think it would be a very cool feature...being able to see all your roms in XBMC with their box art and being able to boot them without having to select them in a secondary app would be very nice.

I am working on a script right now, progress going slow since i'm not used to program python, therefor having to look up everything.

Need some feedback on the plans.

IPB Image

1: you will be presented with a screen listing all your emulators (atleast those compatible with the launchmethod)

2: selecting an emulator lists all corresponding roms for it (hopefully i will be able to add boxart support)

It will be configurable in the way that you can set your emulator dir (note: all emulators must be in subdirs and you can only set one dir). It will parse out the roms dir from the emulators config file.

It will be localized, checking what language you are running in media center.

Later on there might be theme-file support for different skins (like you specify where to place controls and stuff) but for release it will be maybe two "hardcoded" versions (PMIII and MC360), development is on MC360 for now.

That is pretty sweet.. Woah This mc360 skin really started something eh ! if it was still pm3, I'm sure we wouldn't even be going this far still.. how looks and popularity really bring functionality to things !
Keep up the good work man !\

progress is kinda slow (enjoying summer) but hopefully i will have a public beta within a week, made some great breakthrus last night, being able to extract the emulator title from the xbe.

Will also add a titleid check so only the compatible emulators will list the roms and noncompatible will launch the emulator.

Added option (context menu) to launch emulator only or with selected rom (from first screen, list roms or launch emulator) this is for a total replacement of your emulator bookmark.

Also removed the option for setting emulator dir (instead it will be read out from you bookmarks) experimental support for multiple dirs.

need some input.. when going thru bookmarks in mediacenter.xml, what would be commonly used in emulators (a filename.. anything else) that i could search for and confirm it is an emulator bookmark....

please fill in your thoughts.. as of right now, i search for text "emu" in bookmark, a few ini filenames.. but the input is endless, so give me more to search for biggrin.gif

Great stuff!! This was completed awhile ago but never really used as it kinda defeated the purpose (having to make individual shortcuts for each rom). The main reason it was wanted was so that we could have an alternative to Xport's menus, to possibly make for an interface more like the original Surreal one (box art or cart scans for icons instead of text. Also it may allow for displaying of multiple types of artwork at once, not just one preview. For example, the way I'd like to see it would be to have cart scans for icons, and to have it display box art and screenshots simulaneously. The comments field also sounds like a great thing too, as it could be filled in with a quick synopsis much like with MAME roms. Don't know how extensively you are going to go with this, but if you do go through with this, it would be great to have different sections for each emulator so all could have their own layouts and motifs. I as well as many others are eagerly awaiting your release. If you need the artwork named in any specific way (right now we have our artwork named to Xport's standards or 0001.png, 0002.png, etc) let me know and I can get them to you. I'm almost done with an HD NES pack which would look awesome in MC360.

I've been waiting for something like this for a long time! This is all it would take to integrate into an arcade cabinet smoothly!

I only have a few suggestions but it'd be nicer to remove the game info and put a screenshot there. Also, it'd be nice to be able to automatically alternate between a title and a screenshot every couple seconds. Another thing - can the green background be customized with a different image?

Which emulators will be supported with this script? Do you have a rough list of the working/non-working ones?

Great work! I'll be watching this thread for sure! wink.gif Thanks!

As is, Xport's emulators are the only ones that would support this that I know of. So the majority of the good systems out there: NES, Atari, Genesis, GB/GBA etc will be covered. It will remain to be seen if this kind of support will be put into Surreal or ZSNES though.
