Hot off the press form xbh by C4E...

The firmware is 99% complete and just requires one more routine to test when I get back home. I will then port the 47 code over to the 46 version. This will be released within 48 hours time.
It will not require a full firmware update, only a few banks. You will not be required to save/inject your drive key but saving a copy is always best. The checksum will be set to zero for the firmware. Since I dont have a 46 drive you people will have to test and report. I will then look at the 59 version firmware. I have only been spending one hour a night due to real life and have been away for the past three days so please be patient. Assembling with a hex editor is not fun but it gets the job done.
Also it was me on IRC yesterday just to let shr00m know .

...hang in there Hitachi owners

Sweeeet!! .. Awsome!
I spent my whole weekend trying to find a samsung drive..
Went around in like 4-5 different stores and forced them to open the packages.. =)
And all we found was Hitachi drives ....

Great news...
I've got a 0046DJ, if it gets released tomorrow or the day after, I will test it rightaway...
I just hope I can find a mobo that recognises it, if it is needed

I hope not to have to do the crosswired method... My timing pretty much sucks biggrin.gif
When I first read this thread I didn't believed it, so checked XBH to be sure biggrin.gif

happy days it seems my xecuter connectivity kit arrived just in time.

Any1 else got theirs yet? i havent tried it yet, as i have to take my 360 apart again after i got fed up and scared tryin the crossed wire method and put it back together. i havent seen any instructions of how to use it yet. the included dvd drive sata adapter works great ho which lets me know that
my VIA 6421L PCI card is actually working.

to get the drive revision number you read the top of the dvd drive itself so yes ull have to crack it open.

Definately great news! Too bad i bought a Samsung about 2 weeks ago. happy.gif Always good either way, i could flash the Hitachi or swap the laser from the Hitachi to the Samsung if it craps out 1 day. Always good to have options.

What I do wonder is, since C4E said that only a few bankes should be replaced instead of the complete firmware, is it possible to create backups using the same FW or do we have to use another method? We'll know that answer in 2 days biggrin.gif

Wonder if we'll still need DVD9. At least it's one less hassle than the sammys need.
