Hi my name is Luke and this is my first post soooo...
(If this is in the wrong place I will happily move it cool.gif )
I had this idea of blocking out the entire world love.gif (sucky day grr.gif )
so I came home and was just glaring at my Xbox and I had the idea of virtual reality unit because I had seen one at monash uni but that cost like 5-15k to build so I was still looking around and then it hit me
1 fined safety goggles, fishing sinker, hot glue rolleyes.gif and a donor controller wire and other things
2 de solder the x-y pot (thingy) de solder a rumble motor and extend it with ribbon cable (super nerdy tongue.gif )
and hot glue this to the goggles and replace the (crouch?) button with a $1-2 RED cool.gif one from "dick heads" and mount it in a bit of cd cover plastic and glue in place of thumb stick
3 game in super cool nerdy world wink.gif
Did that sound easy dry.gif IT WASENT grr.gif
Trust me it was long and hard to make but well you know

was it worth the burns (hot glue is hot sad.gif ) well yah if I had about another $100-$300 it would be perfect that way I would use a rc helli gyro to do yaw (instd of role for turn) and use a video goggles (so you don’t have to look at the non moving TV will jerking your neck around and instead of using your thumb to walk you would use a modded dance mat and instead of rumble motors use electric shocks (the list goes on)

At first, when reading your post, I was confused to no extent. I was like "WTF is he talking about?" Then I looked at the pictures and got some of the drift...

Well it looks good, but I think it would be weird to tilt your head instead of turn it. Good luck with the whole dance pad thing, I did it about a year ago, and got the Forward and Backward to work, but the left and right didnt, then I went to fix it, and cut the thing in half. Haha good times...

cool stuff..

ive seen something like this except using a flashlight taped backwards to your head..and a board of photoresistors so that if you look up..the light shined on a photoresistor which in turn made you look down

there was a website on how to do it somewhere...

but it was pretty impractical bc you didnt really have smooth movement and it just didnt work so well..

but yah thats actually pretty cool idea

he should have used a laser not a flashlight.. ive never seen this mod but i know he could have faced the laser forward and wired it to work with the yellow wire to detect where the laser was pointed on the tv.. they've been doing this with lightguns for a little while now..

i tried to view the pictures but it would not go....actualy it would be neat to build it into an old motorcycle helmate with a lcd screen on the faceplate and speakers near your ears.
