hi guys. i have recently had my xbox 360 modded (I have the Hitachi drive) and all the backups of games, when run, say that they are unreadable. The person that modded my xbox wasn't able to get any of his test backups to work on it and believes its an issue with my laser. He said that xbox 360 bought around the release date have a suss laser and it can simply be replaced. Is this the case? Has anyone else experience this? Is there something else i can do? thanks in advance for your help!

There is a whole lot of discussion on the hitachi drive issues not booting backup games. Well, I don't think it the laser problem (well unless you screw it up somehow by open the drive up or do the POT TWEAK method) . Here is a links that could help you out alot on making your backup with hitachi drive modded.

Hitachi Drive is really picky on the type of media it want to read and the type of burner you using to burn the backup games. Alot of successful member have use pioneer burn and memorex, verbatim media to burn the backup games and it successful boot.

And my last suggestion to you is there is a lot more post regarding about the issues with hitachi drive not booting backup. Within xbox-scene.com and xboxhacker.com.

This two sites has help me alot about the issues. Hope it would do the same for you

Good Luck

I got similar problem I got a Toshiba Samsung DVD drive it reads original DVDs with no problem but when it comes to the cracked DVDs it wont read it every time I thoght it was a dirty laser head so I've cleaned it (no alchol or anything just dry cotton gently)but it still has difficulties to read my DVDs. Can anyone tell me what it could be?. BTW DVD is not inside I've done the external DVD mode. This problem I had even before the MODDING. PLZ. Help sad.gif Maybe someone wanted to say ''DVD quality or damaged DVD'' hell no. Those DVD worked normally and I got them more than few it can't be that each is damaged.
